Professional Background
Mr. Bailey’s practice focuses on general business, tax, and real estate transactions, including corporate governance, asset acquisitions and dispositions, and a wide range of federal tax matters, particularly those related to corporate and partnership issues. He also provides legal representation in all areas of businesses insolvency, including corporate bankruptcy, work-outs, restructuring, debtor-in-possession financing, creditors’ rights, and bankruptcy litigation. Mr. Bailey has experience representing institutional landlords and tenants in the negotiation, drafting, execution, and subsequent amendment of commercial leases and has also represented institutional investors and developers in acquisitions and dispositions of a variety of real estate assets such as multi-family apartment complexes, retail shopping centers, raw land, office buildings, and industrial parks.
After sitting for the Louisiana Bar in July 2008, Mr. Bailey obtained a LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law where he focused on business taxation. Upon the completion of the LL.M. program, Mr. Bailey moved to Dallas and sat for the July 2009 Texas Bar. Prior to forming Coffin & Bailey, PLLC, Mr. Bailey worked at Coffin & Driver, PLLC for five years.
